For longtime James Bond fans who have been disappointed with the humorless tone of the recent films, BBC is reporting some news that should help you breathe a little easier. According to the site, Ben Whishaw has just signed on to play Q, Bond's quirky weapons developer.

Whishaw will be taking over the role made famous by Desmond Llewelyn from 1963 to 1999, and then by John Cleese in 2002's Die Another Day. If the movie keeps Q similar to the classic version, he should be able to provide a certain amount of humor and wit to the serious tone of Daniel Craig'sBond flicks. This casting move also marks the first time that the actor playing Q will be younger than the actor playing Bond.

Whishaw and Craig will be joining Judi Dench, Naomie Harris, and Javier Badrem in a stacked cast that is quickly becoming one of the most talented in the history of the Bond movies.
