If you've been vicariously living through Vincent Chase during the last season of HBO's Entourage, you've no doubt elt the sting of journalist Sophia Lear, played by actress Alice Eve. For those of you still trying to recall where else you've seen her, think back to last year's underrated comedy She's Out Of My League, in which she literally portrayed "the perfect woman" opposite Jay Baruchel's lanky, pale, and bumbling self.
As it turns out, Eve isn't just a dumb blonde actress playing a super-hot and sophisticated intellectual for work—she actually is one. The 29-year-old English actress is both the Oxford University-educated daughter of actor-parents and the muse to a promising poet. For more details on that, as well as an in-depth look at her career, hit the jump to brush up on your Alice Eve history.
10. She was the "perfect 10" in She's Out Of My League (2010).
Before she became "that hot British journalist" on Entourage, Alice Eve's most noteworthy American role was as Molly McCleish, a.k.a "the perfect 10" in director Jim Field Smith's underrated comedy She's Out Of My League. In the film, her character isn't just a physical incarnation of heaven, she has a genuine personality that would make your mother proud and her own source of income that can make you feel even more incompetent.
9. She seduced James McAvoy in Starter For 10 (2006).
Alice (played by Eve) is the perfect girl in college opposite another smart-ass geek, Brian (James McAvoy), who becomes the star of his university’s trivia team. She was intelligent, sexy and she taught him how to smoke pot by giving “blow backs,” which was probably the most useful piece of trivia he could’ve ever learned.
8. She starred in the Royal Court Theater play "Rock N Roll" (2006).
At the Royal Court Theater (and later reprised on Broadway), Eve starred in the play Rock N Roll. The play highlighted how music and art in Czechoslovakia and Cambridge were effected by communism. Her previous work history wouldn’t just make you seem worldlier about art—it’d undoubtedly be the only history lesson you would’ve been awake for.
7. She has different colored eyes.
As if you needed an excuse to want to stare deeply into the cutie's eyes. If you’ve never noticed she has different colored eyes (one is green, the other is blue), we invite you to look up from her chest, pervert.
6. She was Charlotte's babysitter in Sex and the City II (2010).
In Sex and the City II, Eve played every Upper East Side woman’s fear: an incredibly sexy nanny who doesn’t wear a bra. Consider her character a gift to every man who had to attend the movie's premiere with their girl, especially the scene when giving the kids a bath turns into Eve’s own personal wet T-shirt contest.
5. She's dating poet Adam O'Riordan.
Not only does Eve's She's Out Of My League character preach that the non-jock gets the girl, but the actress practices it in real life. Her boyfriend, Adam O’Riordan, whom she met during her college years at Oxford, is not your typical accessory to the “blond bombshell.” In other words, he can actually make Eve swoon with his Shakespearean words instead of tackling some guy on the field. Most of all, you've got to admit his salt-and-pepper, Clooney-like hair is a good look.
4. She gives candid advice about dating out of your league.
Already an expert about people dating beyond their preconceived range (did you miss that she was in She’s Out of My League?), Eve once gave some sage advice to all dudes trying to land an upgrade. In her own words, to Maxim, she suggested: “Shave your balls—it makes you seem like you’re getting a lot of action.” Go ahead, we'll excuse you for a few minutes.
3. She will star in The Raven (2012).
In the upcoming James McTeigue-directed film, scheduled for a March 9, 2012, release, Eve plays Emily, Edgar Allen Poe’s fiance who is kidnapped by a serial killer patterning his murder spree followed Poe’s literary works. Thus, Poe (John Cusack) sets on an adventure with a sidekick detective to solve the murders and rescue his beloved.
2. She was originally cast as Emma Frost in this summer's X-Men: First Class.
Thoughts of Eve as Emma Frost made geeks everywhere short-circuit in their pants, but it was never meant to be. Despite the hype surrounding her casting, Eve dropped out of the film due to her displeasure with script changes, which answers our burning question: to whom do we have to write angry letters to for casting the vapid January Jones in Eve's absence?
1. She's starring in the upcoming Men In Black III (2012).
In the highly anticipated Men In Black III, Eve will play a younger version of fellow English film royalty, Emma Thompson. Olivia (Eve) proves that she’s more than a secretary hired for her looks with a razor wit and cunning ability to take over the alien-surveillance firm.
