More than ever, it takes something really special to cut through the noise and distraction of everyday life and command your full attention.
Right now, I'm sitting in the corner of a busy coffee shop. Two guys to my right are debating what breed of dog to tattoo on themselves next (seriously). My phone keeps lighting up with social media notifications that I don't really care about but keep checking anyway. There are at least a dozen new-ish albums by artists I care about but haven't checked out yet. But, somehow, this new song and video from SOHN jumped out from the chaos and absorbed my full attention. Headphones on. Full screen. Replay. Over and over.
Something about the dramatic Jovan Todorovic-directed black and white visuals pulled me in and once I started watching, I couldn't look away. The narrative isn't linear so it takes a few watches to figure out what's happening, but it's clear there's something special going on here from the jump. Along the way, SOHN continues his recent trend of beefing up his traditionally ethereal sounds with meaty electronics as he gears up to release his new album Rennen (due January 13). Together, it's a pretty stunning experience.
