The Academy Awards will be airing on ABC on February 28, hosted by Chris Rock, and the nominees have just been announced.
The nominees for Best Original Song include The Weeknd’s “Earned It,” Sam Smith’s “Writing’s On The Wall,” and J.Ralph and Antony’s “Manta Ray.” “Earned It” and “Writing’s On The Wall” were both major hits and the standout tracks of the Fifty Shades Of Grey and Spectre soundtracks respectively, while “Manta Ray” was a lesser known yet equally impressive standout from the Racing Extension soundtrack.
Two other tracks round out the Best Song category: Lady Gaga’s “Til it Happens to You” from The Hunting Ground and David Lang’s “Simple Song #3″ from Youth.
