Valentina - "It's A Line" + "Heart Of Glass"

1.

I got put on to the lovely Valentina through her feature on the excellent Joe Goddard track “Gabriel” (check it out if you haven’t yet, it’s pretty damn perfect), so I decided to electronically hunt her down. Less exciting than actually hunting her down, but potentially more legal. Since “Gabriel” was basically mellow dance music, I was expecting more of the same, but much to my surprise and then delight, she deals more in the folkier, acoustic side of things.

Valentina certainly has the sort of pure, crystalline voice that works well over minimal acoustic backdrops, and that is just what we get on her debut EP Weights. The EP has been out since April (buy it here), so we’re a bit late on the bandwagon, but nevertheless dis dat gutter grimey street-level pure folk music that’s definitely worth your time. Two of the EP’s standouts below.
