SG Tip is making up for lost time. After spending the latter half of high school stuck in juvenile detention, the East Atlanta-based rapper came home last year and had released the NWA mixtape by October. The hometown connections run deep—NWA featured production from Pierre Bourne and Metro Boomin, and Tip first encountered the Slaughter Gang crew when he was 11. He joined 21 Savage on tour shortly after the release of NWA, and just announced his next project. Block Boy Tip will drop on March 28.

Today, we're premiering the project's first single, "Push Up." You can add Yung Bans and Smokepurpp to that list of SG Tip allies—Purpp comes through with an off-kilter earworm of a hook, and Bans closes things out with a breathy, barely-there verse that takes the track in a whole new direction. With each passing release, SG Tip is proving that he spent that time away from home honing his craft—he's a talented rapper with a good ear for production and curation. Block Boy Tip could be a breakout moment for a young artist who has hit the ground running. Listen to "Push Up" below.
