This week, 17-year-old US snowboarder Chloe Kim became the first major star of the 2018 Winter Olympics when sheĀ lived up to all the hype and won gold in the women's halfpipe final.
Some viewers at home noticed that she plugged in headphones before each of her runs. So, what's the perfect soundtrack for an Olympic gold medalist?Ā With victory already secured heading into her third round run, Kim tells ESPN reporters that she loaded up "Motorsport" by Migos, Cardi B, and Nicki Minaj.
So, as Cardi B rapped "I turn Offset on" into her ears, Kim flew down the pipe and landed back-to-back 1080sāearned a score of 98.25. She added that she was listening to "Paparazzi" by Lady Gaga in the first run.
As MSN points out, however, Kim told a different story hours later when she visited the set of NBC'sĀ Today talk show. "I don't really remember," she said. "It's been such a huge blur. It could have been 'Paparazzi' by Lady Gaga. Or it could have been 'Toxic' by Britney Spears."
The inconsistent rumors are already sparking some pretty tasty conspiracy theories (please read this one), but we like to think her first response was the correct one. As Kim admitted before the competition, she was already hangry after not finishing her breakfast sandwich. Combined with the whirlwind of gold medal ceremonies, it isn't surprising her memory eventually failed her.Ā
No disrespect to Lady Gaga, but it hadĀ to have been "MotorSport," right? Everyone knows "skrrtĀ skrrt" ad-libs are perfect for winter sports. Either way, congrats Chloe. You're a real one.
