"'Best I Ever Had' seems like a decade ago." - Drake, "6PM In New York"
He's right. Today marks the first day that Drake is not featured on the Billboard Hot 100 since he made his debut on May 23, 2009 with "Best I Ever Had." That's eight years of dominating the charts. So we figured it would be fun to look at all the things that have changed in music and pop culture since his Billboard debut, but even more fun to look back specifically at the the last day before Drake started his run. Here's what was happening on May 22, 2009, the day before Drake started his legendary run.
Donald Trump
The future President of the United States of America was tweeting reminders to enter a contest to win a signed copy of his latest book... and a keychain. And getting horrible engagement. Sad!

Charles Hamilton
Charles Hamilton received that infamous punch, and Pigeons & Planes was still using exclamation marks in headlines.

Susan Boyle
Susan Boyle mania was in full force. I don't think I really realized how big Susan Boyle was, but she was a damn superstar. Her Britains Got Talent audition was the biggest YouTube video of 2009, gaining 120 million views (David After Dentist came in second with 37 million). Susan Boyle became a global superstar overnight, and her debut album has sold 14 million copies.
The Susan Boyle YouTube video has 58.6 million views.
There are only 50.3 million people in Great Brittan.

Designer Jeans
The LA Times published the article "Designer jeans seem recession-proof." Eight years later, this still holds true. Lil Pump got designer from head to the toe.

Kobe Bryant
Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers were in the middle of a battle against Carmelo Anthony and the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals. Carmelo had just helped tie the series at 1-1, but the Lakers would win in 6 games. They then went on to win the NBA Finals against the Orlando Magic.
The Nuggets overcame a 14-point deficit to beat the Lakers 106-103 at STAPLES. Melo went for 34 & Billups added 27. The WCF is now tied 1-1.
