Over the past two years, Smino has put his versatility on display with the release of his S!Ck S!Ck S!Ck and blkjuptr projects, as well as a handful of other loose singles. As his fan base continues to grow, the St. Louis rapper is on track to have an even bigger year than before with the release of his debut album blkswn. Smino has always made sure he's representing his hometown well, and he continues to honor the city by releasing his album on March 14 (reflecting St. Louis' 314 area code).

Smino has delivered previews of his forthcoming debut in the last few months with the releases of singles like "blkswn,""Anita," and "Blkoscars" featuring Jay2. This week he follows up the official announcement of his new album with a brand new single titled "Father Son Holy Smoke"—another smooth single produced by THEMpeople. blkswn will also feature appearances from Ravyn Lenae, theMIND, Sango, Monte Booker, and more.

Monte Booker produced the majority of Smino's upcoming album, as well as much of his previous work. Smino explained that they hang out so much that whenever they're hit with inspiration, they just decide to work right on the spot. "One of the most random songs we did on the project was the 'Lobby Kall' jam. We were chilling at our room in the studio that we call 'the island,' just coolin, and this nigga just had this hot ass beat and he making it out of his voice," Smino explains. "He sampled his own voice. And I didn't do something with it at the moment but the next time I got in the studio I laid it down. Monte will pull his laptop out anywhere, he can make a beat anywhere. He got this infamous bounce he does when he makes beats, and by the time we leave and plug it into the stereo it's just, like, 'damn you just did this shit while we were eating.'"
