HER Announces 'Her Tape #2' EP, Shares New Single "SWIM"

The French duo is back with another velvety track, and an EP on the way.

If you think rock music is struggling in the U.S., look to Europe. Today's evidence: the French duo of Victor Solf and Simon Carpentier, who have carved out a niche making earnest, midtempo sulk funk as Her.

The two met in high school, playing together for years before they broke through in 2015 with the raunchy, anthemic "Quite Like." Her followed it up with the immortal sex jam/Apple commercial alumnus "Five Minutes"—and today, Solf and Carpentier are back with the first single from a new EP.

Her Tape #2 will release on April 7. Much of the band's output to date has brimmed with lust and passion, but they're changing tack with "SWIM."

"We’re living in troubled times marked by renewed violence, social regression and the rise of extremism," the band said in a statement. "As artists, we wanted to put across a positive message, encouraging people to think differently and accept their own and others’ uniqueness."
