Harambe Day For Night Festival

UPDATE: Mass Appeal reports that the Harambe hologram was a hoax. Day For Night festival organizers responded to queries by revealing the page on their website was "a joke." R.I.P. Harambe, again.

It continues. Harambe (the gorilla who was controversially shot and killed by employees at the Cincinnati Zoo) has inspired a flood of memes—and a song on Young Thug's latest project. Now, it's been announced that a hologram of Harambe will make an appearance at Houston's Day For Night Festival alongside acts including Travis Scott, Run The Jewels, Banks, RZA, and Blood Orange.

The festival's website lists Harambe on the official lineup with a description of "a hologram of our beloved Harambe."

Taking place this December 17-19, the festival promises to "combine headlining musicians with immersive art installations, transforming live music production by introducing new sensory experiences to the festival landscape." No word yet on whether Harambe will make a Tupac-like hologram appearance on stage or if he'll join other art installations on the festival grounds.

One thing's certain: the power of memes is strong in 2016.
