This afternoon, Post Malone stopped by Beats 1 headquarters to talk shop with head host Zane Lowe, discussing tour life and offering thoughts on hip-hop before delivering big news: his debut album will hit stores (or at least the internet) in August. Tentatively called Stoney, the title arose from the artist’s early nickname.

What’s more, the previously hinted Justin Bieber collaboration—”Déjà Vu”—will appear on the forthcoming full-length. Additional details are scant.

Reflecting, Post credited rap’s rawness for his love of the genre: “Growing up, my dad took me on to everything… Pac, Biggie, Ice-T. What I love about hip-hop and all that shit is it’s you… It’s real, it’s a super raw form of expression.”

He also admitted his team felt that leading with “White Iverson” was a poor decision. We all know how that one worked out.

Listen to the full interview between Malone and Lowe below, and return to Post’s mixtape, August 26, while you wait. Full disclosure: Zane drops an unfathomable number of DJ Khaled catchphrases toward the tail-end of the conversation.
