Last month we were met with an update about the upcoming Gorillaz album. Virtual artist and co-creator of Gorillaz, Jamie Hewlett only previously gave fans a rather vague update saying that the new album is “really fuckin’ special” and that it “can’t be rushed.” The latest update comes from Blur frontman and the other half of Gorillaz, Damn Albarn.

In a recent interview with BBC Radio 6 Music, Albarn said that the new Gorillaz album “should be ready fairly soon.” As of right now, Albarn and Hewlett haven’t given fans too many details about the upcoming album. So far, we know that it’s due for a 2017 release and remains without a known title.

However, this update—regardless of how vague it may initially seem—may serve as a decent hint that we can expect to hear a brand new single from the Gorillaz much sooner than later.

Listen to a bit of the interview below.
