The run up to the presidential election is in full swing, and more and more musicians have been publicly declaring their support for various candidates. Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders has already gained the full support of Killer Mike, who sat down for a lengthy one-on-one conversation and has given a number of speeches for him, and the latest to back him is Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon.

Vernon introduced Sanders at a rally this morning, April 2, at the W.L. Zorn Arena at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, saying, “We have this great country. We have this human chance to take care of this freedom, to take care of its promise.” Watch his brief introduction (and Sanders’ whole speech) above.

Vernon is an Eau Claire native and University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire alumni, and he recently announced the lineup for the second annual Eaux Claires music festival, featuring acts like James Blake, Beach House, and Erykah Badu. The festival, which is curated by Vernon and Aaron Dessner of The National, goes down in August. More info here.
