We recently listed Trapo as one of the best teenager rappers out right now. At only 17, he already has an identifiable voice and a string of tracks on his SoundCloud that demand attention. Today he released “Modelo,” the first single from his upcoming The Black Beverly Hills EP.

As we grow older, the pressure of trying to be a good role model to those coming after us can be stressful. “There was a point where I was getting in a lot of trouble and not really taking school or rap seriously,” Trapo explained to Complex “I have younger cousins that looked up to me, and I was like, ‘you shouldn’t,'” said Trapo. “I still feel like I’m not fully a good role model, but back then I really wasn’t.”

Fortunately he’s grown a lot since then, but he takes to time to reflect on that point of his life in “Modelo.” It’s hard to not want to sing along to the chorus by the time it ends. This is the sort of track that could win listeners over in an instant.

Listen to “Modelo” below.
