Most listeners clamor for “Cha Cha,” but “$,” a self-assured highlight off D.R.AM.’s #1Epic project, deserves just as much love. It’s a piano-led slow jam that encourages the pursuit of dollar bills, but more so a dream-driven ode to relentless work ethic and attaining goals.
Today, in honor of his birthday, the Virginia rapper returns with a subtle remix of the original. Donnie Trumpet stops by to lift the song of his soon-to-be tour-mate up another notch. The sounds of Bub Ruth and Gabe Niles, the producers behind the initial beat, are largely untouched. The complementary horns better capture its positivity, providing a new spin.
