Video: Disclosure ft. Sam Smith - "Omen"

The Disclosure brothers and Sam Smith come together for their first collab since "Latch."

Disclosure return once again, this time with Sam Smith for “Omen.” News of the record rippled across the internet since Caracal‘s rollout began, and for good reason. The long-awaited collaboration follows 2012’s “Latch.” The Settle single preceded—and contributed to—Smith’s rise to fame, and grew to become one of 2013’s most memorable songs.

Lawrence brothers Guy and Howard briefly addressed the makings of “Omen” in a press release. The track arose from a creative session with Jimmy Napes, from which the melodies and chord progressions were born.

“We had three whole days to hang out with Sam and write, which are two of my favorite things to do,” Howard said.

“It’s a very traditional way of writing songs,” Guy noted. “We could do it at home. I’ll sit in the corner making a rough beat and getting all the sounds I think we’re going to use ready. Someone will think about a theme of a subject we want to talk about. It all comes together that way-and if it doesn’t come together quickly, it usually never will.”

Ryan Hope once more assumes directorial responsibilities. Masquerade motifs complement the blissful ignorance found in Smith’s lyrics. The video, filmed in Mexico City, looks like the result of crossing present day New York and Tokyo with the hovercraft technologies that we might expect to see in 2030. It’s a party in a somewhat dystopian world.
