In June, a song produced by SOPHIE and featuring vocalist Liz was used in a Samsung commercial, but a rep for the artist explained that neither SOPHIE nor PC Music had anything to do with the placement. Now, SOPHIE’s “Lemonade,” probably the producer’s best known song, has popped up in a McDonald’s advert, selling lemonade, nonetheless.
Is this all part of PC Music and SOPHIE’s commentary on capitalism and the commodification of art? We’ll likely never know, but as music placements in ads go, this one makes a strange sort of sense. Watch the commercial for yourself above and listen to the original song below.
