"People vs. Poster" App Ranks Coachella Artists Based on Twitter Buzz

Social media is one of the best ways to gauge what’s really happening out in the “real” world, or at least a glimpse into the public’s mind. This new app visualizes who’s blowing up online in the days before Coachella overruns Indio, California.

People vs. Poster ranks artists based on their Twitter buzz and compares it to their poster lineup for a very interesting outlook on who fans actually want to see at the festival.

For example: Steely Dan, who is number four on the Friday lineup, is virtually nonexistent on social media, getting bumped all the way down to Alvin Risk and Allah-Las levels of obscurity. On Sunday, Ryan Adams is the big loser, getting knocked down all the way into the second half of online buzz.

Only AC/DC and Drake held down the number one spots in both “The People” and “Poster” rankings, with Jack White getting booted from the throne in the Saturday show to The Weeknd.
