Twitter is dipping its toe into the digital marketplace with the rollout of a “buy” button, a feature that allows users to make purchases directly from their Twitter feed. To start, the service will provide exclusive access to music and merchandise from the likes of early-adopters Pharrell, Death From Above 1979, Eminem, Ryan Adams, and Wiz Khalifa. The function also extends to non-music organizations like GLAAD, Home Depot, Global Citizen, and (RED). Here’s a short, ecstatic video released by Twitter:

This initial rollout will only be available to a small fraction of the Twitterverse, but with the advent of 3-D printing, however, could the future see the “Buy” button eventually applying to everything even mentioned on Twitter? How great would it be, for instance, to instantly buy one of El-P’s movies that don’t yet exist? Or Ezra Koenig’s three-part Labor Day recipe for happiness? Or Lil B’s messages of hope and love? Twitter, pls hurry. For all our sakes.
