Back in May, it was reported that some mysterious immigration/legal issues caused Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def) to cancel his U.S. tour. He’s not made any official statement regarding that situation (although Times LIVE reports that the ban wasn’t true), but it doesn’t seem to matter, as last night Bey made a surprise appearance at Dave Chappelle’s show at Radio City Music Hall to perform a number of tracks, including “Umi Says” and “History.”
