Benji B’s always essential BBC Radio 1 show was taken over by Four Tet last night, and the seemingly omnipresent producer came through with a really enlightening interview and an exclusive mix. He starts off by talking about the crazy story behind J. Dilla’s remix of his track, and goes on to cover collaborating with Rome Fortune, Jamie xx, and Burial.
Maybe the most interesting part of the interview comes when Four Tet talks about Twitter, and how it’s changed his process for the better, giving artists immediate access to each other without a middleman like a manager or a label.
For me, the existence of Twitter… has had a massive, massive impact on what’s possible for me. On Twitter I chat with everybody from Rome Fortune to Ellie Goulding or Lorde, and they get back to me.
