This is the official start of the EDM festival season; today is legit the middle of the Ultra Music Festival, which is the nightcap to the entire Miami Music Week. Sad thing is, the majority of the bits featured here won’t be broadcast on Ultra Live from any stage. That, though, highlights how diverse electronic music / dance music / EDM / whatever you’re calling it truly is.
Alix Perez x DJ Rashad x DJ Spinn – “Don’t This Ish”
While this track won’t be on Alix Perez’s forthcoming EP, there are Rashad & Spinn collaborations on the project. And if the tunes on that EP will be as thick as this one, we’ll be in heaven.
Jamie xx – “Sleep Sound”
New Jamie xx single forthcoming in May. You might be stuck with this one on repeat for a bit.
5.
Alesia x M.I.A – “Pull Up The People”
Nutty, amazing.
Jerome LOL – “Feel It For The First Time”
Jerome makes a strong case for why he should be producing pop music.
Alex Metric & Oliver – “Hope”
All kinds of old school vibes.
DJ Earl & Sonic D – “A London Sumthin”
If you like the footwork Rashad champions, you need to make DJ Earl a part of your life.
MikeQ & DJ Sliink ft. Miss Jay – “The Bitch”
MIkeQ and DJ Sliink linked up to craft a pristine ballroom / Jersey club banger.
Nightwave – “Scooter”
There’s so much amazingness going on in this one. Genre’s collide and blend together, making one amazing stew.
J. Phlip – “Wurk”
That dirtybird sound for $free.99. If you’re not rating J.Phlip, you might need to reconsider if you really rock with dance music.
Nadastrom – “Fat Boys”
We need more beatbox samples in dance music.
DJ Fresh vs. Diplo – “Earthquake (Astronomar’s Carless Earthquake Edit)”
Because more tracks need edits that flip the melody from Wham!’s “Careless Whisper.”
