Back in 2011, Italian-English singer Valentina collaborated with Joe Goddard on the near-perfect “Gabriel,” and now she’s teamed up with another brilliant producer, Kwes., for her forthcoming Wolves EP. The lead single, which is out now, is an expansive but restrained ballad in which gentle piano is eventually joined by a chugging bassline and crisp snares that have echoes of the club, but never overwhelm Valentina’s fragile vocals. More impressive work from both Kwes. and Valentina, which bodes well for the rest of the EP.
