Killer Mike’s R.A.P. Music is an unusual album–a throwback to the energy of early Public Enemy and Ice Cube updated with the clanging retro-future sounds of El-P’s signature production.
I doubt highly that P.E. or Cube ever proposed a video with flesh eating strippers, though.
The video for Mike’s “Big Beast” is a doozy–9 minutes that combines performance footage with a robbery narrative inspired by last year’s much buzzed about Drive. Like Drive, “Big Beast” features a heaping helping of the ol’ ultra violence, car chases, and a botched robbery. Unlike Drive, “Big Beast” features the aforementioned flesh eating strippers, more rapping, and El-P taking Ryan Gosling’s role as getaway driver/heart throb. Both feature a lot of anger.
