Stay Flee Get Lizzy’s empire continues to grow and the hits keep coming. For his latest drop, “No Refunds”, he’s picked two rhymers with contrasting styles: Knucks and Nemzzz.
It’s a timely selection and yet another example of brand founder Dion ‘Sincere’ Hamilton’s flare for picking an artist at exactly the right moment in their career. Knucks’ Alpha Place was one of the year’s finest releases and he’s found huge success this year, gracing TV screens and magazine covers in equal abundance. Manchester native Nemzzz, meanwhile, is at a much earlier stage in his career, but enjoyed a moment of his own when he dropped his viral Jersey Club/drill hybrid “ABC” just over a month ago.
Even their sounds contrast; South Kilburn’s Knucks has the slow-and-low calm that comes with maturity, while Nemzzz has a much more tightly-wound energy. Despite that, the lurching low-end rumble of Young Chencs, Finn Wigan, Beat Butcha, and Knucks’ production actually brings their two flows closer together and onto more comfortable ground.
This year alone, we’ve had Stay Flee Get Lizzy link-ups with Clavish, Lancey Fouxx, cityboymoe, SL and Gdup, adding to a formidable stack of A-list collabs. We can’t help but wonder if it’s all building up to something.
