It was only last autumn that club-minded R&B crooner VX Duse debuted with his first two singles, “Prism” and then “Paraiso”. As it turns out, those two tracks were the first hints at an upcoming EP he’s getting ready to release later this year. Before we get to that though, he’s today dropping off a third track, “Sia”, which features Danny Sanchez

Like its predecessors, “Sia” nods to both Duse’s Colombian heritage and his South London home, with touches of R&B, drill and reggaeton, all carefully tied together by producer MG. Despite its meaty production, the pair’s vocals, even when pitched down, betray the track’s real tenderness as they sing about the struggle to balance the demands of love and music.

Speaking on the track’s meaning, Duse shares: “‘Sia’ is a song about a love interest in which love felt like the only thing that mattered at that moment in time, and that the rest of my life was sidelined for the person I fell for. It’s about finding an equilibrium between my love life and my passion for music so neither suffer from lack of attention.”

Besides the new EP, Duse has also been hard at work with the rest of the VX Mob—Raff and Ells—and their next track, “Choppa” (also produced by MG), is expected to land tomorrow as well. While we wait for that, take a listen to “Sia” below.
