The 2022 MOBO Awards are just around the corner and it’s a bit of a special one this year. This year marks 25 years since MOBOs founder and CEO Kanya King decided to rally the industry and celebrate Black British music and its creators, and naturally they want to do something to celebrate the occasion.

This year’s ceremony—which takes place on November 30—will no doubt be a big one, but before any of that, they thought it would be fitting to put together a compilation that put the spotlight on the up-and-comers. The MOBO UnSung: Class Of 2022 compilation, which highlights the work of the MOBO UnSung arm of their operations, is the apex of a year-long collaboration between the MOBO Awards and Marshall Amps.

Drawing together music from 10 artists that are part of this year’s MOBO UnSung finalists, the tracklist includes contributions from Genesis Elijah, Mace The Great, AE, Crae Wolf, and many more.

Speaking on the anniversary and the compilation, Kanya King says: “MOBO continues to provide a unique talent platform and push for more representation, both on stage and behind the scenes across the creative industries, and crucially through MOBO UnSung, our development programme for emerging talent at a crucial time in their careers. This year’s MOBO UnSung Class of 2022 are among the finest the UK’s homegrown scene has to offer and it’s going to be rewarding to see these artists make their mark upon the world through their love of music. It is very exciting and fitting in this 25th anniversary year of the MOBO Awards, to be able to announce the release of the first compilation album from MOBO UnSung supported by Marshall Amplification, as part of our five-year partnership. The talent have the will to win, the desire to succeed, and the drive to reach their full potential, so let’s unlock the door of opportunities.”

The 2022 MOBO Awards will take place at the OVO Arena Wembley on Wednesday, November 30. The list of this year’s nominees is imminent, but while we wait, get stuck into the new comp below.
