To coincide with the one-year anniversary of his death, Dallas rapper Lil Loaded’s family has shared a new posthumous song titled “Cell Tales.”

Lil Loaded passed away last year on May 31 at the age of 20, and he left behind some unreleased material. The introspective “Cell Tales” is his first officially released music since his death, and it shows he had plenty more to give.

“As we come to the end of mental health awareness month, I wanted to share a new song from Lil Loaded,” stated the artist’s mother. “I appreciate all his fans for the love that you gave to my baby boy and I know we all miss him very much. As we approach the first anniversary of his passing, I want to shed light and send love to those who are suffering quietly as well as their loved ones. Please know that mental health awareness is so real and so important.”

It’s unclear if “Cell Tales” is taken from a full posthumous project.

Best known for his 2019 tracks “Gang Unit” and “6LOCC 6A6Y,” which has been certified gold, Loaded’s death was confirmed last year by his mother and his attorney. Prior to his passing, he shared a worrying message on Instagram. His mother said Loaded was distraught over a breakup at the time, while another collaborator claimed the rapper died by suicide.

In 2020, Lil Loaded was arrested on murder charges. He allegedly fatally shot 18-year-old Khalia Walker in October 2020, which he appeared to deny in several posts on social media. “They try to make u look guilty wen u innocent regardless,” he wrote in one post. “We going to get pass this.”
