Parents of R. Kelly's Girlfriend, Joycelyn Savage Plead with Her to Come Home

Joycelyn Savage's parents say that communicating with their daughter is still difficult, even though R. Kelly was found guilty of federal sex crimes last month.

The parents of R. Kelly’s girlfriend, Joycelyn Savage are still trying to get in touch with their daughter.

Timothy and Jonjelyn Savage told TMZ that they still haven’t spoken to Joycelyn even though Kelly was found guilty of federal sex crimes in September and awaits sentencing. They want to let her know that her grandfather passed away, as did her grandmother from cancer.

“We tried to reach out to Joycelyn when my father passed,” her dad said in a video. “We have to always reach out through [Kelly’s] camp.” He explained that they also had to do the same for the death of Jonjelyn’s mother. “No response, whatsoever. … Everybody want to say she’s grown. Let me hear from a grown woman. I want to hear from my daughter. … I don’t want to hear from no third party. I want to hear exactly from Joycelyn Savage, period.”

“We would like to have a one-on-one discussion with you as a family,” Jonjelyn said. Timothy added, “Listen, Robert is locked up. All these enablers need to move aside. Joycelyn, I need to see you at that funeral. It’s just that simple.”

Joycelyn has stayed by the singer’s side and even went to court for fighting his ex-girlfriend, Azriel Clary. Clary recently sat down with Gayle King to discuss a 2019 interview with King, where Clary and another woman defended Kelly. Clary—who testified against Kelly in court—revealed that she and others were coached before the 2019 interview.

In January 2020, Jonjelyn approached her daughter outside a court hearing for her alleged assault on Clary. Video shows the mother pleading with Joycelyn to speak to her, but to no avail.
