Rap and sports often go hand-in-hand. If the NFL is a copycat league, then it only makes sense that hip-hop would be the same.
While Lil Uzi Vert and Sauce Walka are jocking to be crowned the originator of the diamond-embedded face piercing, IDK decided to take the trend and attempt to make it his own. On Monday, the DMV native posted a video of him getting a small— but pure —diamond embedded into his cheek.
“Bling Blow,” IDK captioned an Instagram video that shows him proving the stone’s validity via a diamond tester. He also acknowledges that he’s not the originator of this trend in the post’s comment section. “Here before the Uzi did it first comments,” he wrote.
He then took to Twitter where he explained that a single flawless VVS diamond is only $100, so he didn’t make a wildly expensive purchase like Lil Uzi Vert.
IDK’s face piercing also makes an appearance in the video for his new single, “Just Like Martin.” For this track, IDK makes a metaphor between his affinity for black luxury cars and the great Civil Rights leader, Martin Luther King, Jr.
“Just like Martin, 40K booking that’s where I’m starting/Where the valet at? hit the break pull up that’s where I’m parking,” IDK raps on the chorus. “All-black beamer, next year it’s an all-black Maybach.” As the song suggests, IDK toys with two Maybach trucks throughout the video.
