French Montana has hit a historical career high with the RIAA-certified diamond status of his smash 2017 single “Unforgettable” featuring Swae Lee.

Glasses were raised in honor of the African-born artist, at an intimate dinner attended by a small handful of Epic Records execs including the legendary Sylvia Rhone, Sal Slaiby, and A&R Rahsaan “Shake” Phelps. French also had plenty of family and friends there to help celebrate the monumental moment—including his brother Ayoub.

“Unforgettable” is off of French’s second album, the 2017 Jungle Rules, which became a fast success, going platinum almost immediately. The single sold 10 million copies in the US with over 3 billion streams worldwide.

Following the success of the album, powered by the single, French graced the covers of Billboard, Paper, XXL, Vibe, GQ Middle East, and 1883 Magazine. That year, he performed at the BET Awards, MTV EMAs, Teen Choice Awards, and MTV Africa Music Awards.

Last year’s release They Got Amnesia received widespread praise, currently raking in hundreds of millions of streams.

The south-Bronx emcee’s roots are firmly planted in hip-hop’s birthplace, but his homeland is still a point of reference for the artist whose Suubi “Hope” Health Center in Uganda which he opened in 2018 has provided healthcare access to over 500,000 women across 56 villages.
