Ed Sheeran returns with another taste of his upcoming studio album = (Equals).

On Thursday, the UK singer/songwriter released his “Shivers” track along with its official video directed by Dave Meyers. The visual follows a love-struck Sheeran as he attempts to woo a woman—played by actress AnnaSophia Robb—he met by chance in a diner. The video has a surrealist feel, as it includes a series of random scenes that nod to video games, superhero movies, and the legendary Elton John.

“I wrote this as soon as the Divide tour ended in a rented farm in Suffolk where we had set up a studio for a couple of weeks to see what happened,” Sheeran said about “Shivers.” “It was written over the course of 3 days, which is very different for me, but I felt it was too special to get wrong. It was originally meant to be the first single, but I just didn’t see a world where Bad Habits existed if it didn’t come out in the summer. Shivers always felt more autumnal. I hope you like it, I bloody love it.”

“Shivers” comes just several weeks after Sheeran released “Visiting Hours,” the lead single off =. Sheeran told fans he began writing and recording the album as far back as summer 2017, and described the effort as “a coming of age record.”

“Its been a long, long process. I’ve been through love, loss, new life, grief and everything in between during the whole period of writing it, and I feel like it’s really a coming of age record,” he said. “I’ve never been more proud of a body of work, or more excited/nervous for you all to hear it.”

You can watch the “Shivers” video above and stream the song now on all major platforms. Sheeran’s = is scheduled to arrive on Oct. 29.
