Drake may have scored another No. 1 album.
According to early projections shared by HitsDailyDouble, Drizzy’s Honestly, Nevermind will likely debut atop the Billboard 200. The project, which was announced just hours before its Friday release, is currently expected to rack up between 210,000 to 230,000 album equivalent units in its first week. Though the numbers are undoubtably strong, they’re not as impressive as Drake’s previous studio LP debuts.
His 2021 record Certified Lover Boy debuted at No. 1 with 613,000 units, 2018’s Scorpion took the top spot with 732,000 units, and 2016’s Views and 2013’s Nothing Was the Same each debuted at No. 1 with 852,000 and 658,000 copies their first weeks, respectively.
Honestly, Nevermind delivered 14 tracks with production by Gordo, Black Coffee, Kid Masterpiece, Noah “40” Shebib, and more. The only credited guest artist was 21 Savage, who assisted on album closer “Jimmy Cooks.” Other tracks include “Falling Back,” “Tie That Binds,” “Calling My Name,” “Flight’s Booked,” and “Down Hill,” all of which find Drake diving head first into dance music.
The record has polarized many fans, with some deeming it “boring,” “uninspired,” and the sonic equivalent to Forever 21. Drake seemingly responded to the criticism in a now-viral video.
“It’s all good if you don’t get it yet,” Drake said in the clip as “Calling My Name” played in the background. “That’s what we do! We wait for you to catch up. We in here, though, we caught up already. On to the next. My goodness!”
