Dave Dons Corteiz In Fashion-Forward Video For “Starlight”

A self-produced number, “Starlight” is a relatively subtle one, putting bars above any sort of hook and pairing his rhymes with a laid-back, minimal beat.

After kicking off the year with an epic performance at the 2022 BRIT Awards—which included a literally incendiary turn on a guitar he picked up for the first time four months prior—and having toured the UK for the last couple of weeks, Dave is keeping things rolling at full speed with new single “Starlight”.

A self-produced number, “Starlight” is a relatively subtle one, putting bars front and centre and pairing his rhymes with a laid-back, minimal beat. As for the actual content, it feels like Dave’s looking to the future. He may be sporting a shirt with “No time 4 luv” written on the back, but he makes more than a few references to having “found his princess” and settling down with a family.

For the video, which Dave co-directed with Nathan Tettey, things are just as restrained. Camped out in a luxury apartment, Dave and Clint—star of streetwear brand Corteiz—kick back in some of the designer’s latest wears. In the midst of all that, we get shots of models strutting down the catwalk with more designer gear, with a few added scenes of Dave and some friends posing for mugshots.

“Starlight” is most likely just a one-off loosie for now, but it’ll be interesting to see if Dave’s been cooking anything else up in the studio. For now, press play on the video up top and be sure to add the song to your playlists.
