February is off to a good start. Freddie Gibbs and Schoolboy Q linked up on their smooth record new record “Gang Signs.” Cardi B is back with a vibrant and braggadocious track called “Up.” Polo G returned to his Chicago drill roots on “GNF (OKOKOK),” while Lil Durk and Kehlani connected on the seductive and romantic record “Love You Too.” This week’s list also includes new songs from JID, YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Jevon, and more.

Cardi B, “Up”

Cardi B is back. “Up” is an energetic and confident record that finds the Bronx rapper addressing her detractors while bragging about her luxurious lifestyle, riches, and good looks. “I said my face bomb, ass tight/ Racks stack up Shaw height/ Jewelry on me, flashlight,” she raps. The track is catchy with a repetitive chorus that will make you want to get up and twerk. “Up” arrives nearly seven months after Card dropped her massive single “WAP” with Megan Thee Stallion, and is expected to appear on her next album. 

Freddie Gibbs f/ Schoolboy Q, “Gang Signs”

With a title like “Gang Signs,” you’d expect Freddie Gibbs’ new record to be aggressive with heavy bass. But “Gang Signs” is actually a smooth song that finds Freddie bobbing over a jazzy instrumental as he raps about making money, linking with Insta models, and more. “Yeah, I just wanna be legit/ Fuck a bad Insta bitch, Bunny Rabbit off the rip,” he raps. Schoolboy Q joins Gibbs with a fun and vibrant verse, spitting, “What it takes, sold that/ What he rap, been that, hey/ At the Grammys still strapped/ I’m glowin cause a nigga straight.” 

Polo G, “GNF (OKOKOK)”

“GNF (OKOKOK)” is a menacing record from Polo G that stands for “Give No Fucks.” On the track, Polo G returns to his Chicago drill roots, laying down chaotic and lethal flows about gang violence and deadly activity. “If you diss on the ‘net, get your scalp hit/ You’d be better off watchin’ your mouth, butch/ Real killers don’t care bout no clout shit/ They ain’t drop, spin the block, reroute quick,” he spits over a bruising beat.

Lil Durk f/ Kehlani, “Love You Too”

“Love You Too” is a slow record with a seductive beat. On the track, Lil Durk breaks out his singing vocals as he professes his love to another. “Real power couple winnin’ they can’t compete with us/ Can’t no on fuck this up cause this too deep with us,” he sings. Kehlani is the perfect guest for the track, as her sultry and echoing vocals provide the appropriate contrast to Durk’s Auto-Tuned notes. “Love You Too” arrives a week after Durk released the deluxe version of The Voice

YoungBoy Never Broke Again, “Toxic Punk”

YoungBoy sounds emotional on “Toxic Punk” as he pours out his thoughts and feelings with passionate vocals. On the track, he sings with a strained voice about his heavy drug use and flawed personality traits. “Ugly boy, toxic punk, they don’t love me, yeah/ Foreign drugs, hallucinations all I see/ Actin’ crazy, get the police called on me,” he sings. “Toxic Punk” is expected to appear on YoungBoys’ upcoming album, tentatively titled Sincerely, Kentrell

JID f/ Denzel Curry, “Bruuuh (Remix)”

JID taps Denzel Curry to hop on the remix of “Bruuuh,” where the duo exchange slick verses that hit on a series of different topics. JID kicks things off with a dizzying and lengthy verse, flexing his skills and control. Denzel Curry hops in next, rapping, “I’m still hot til I set in the dawn, until a nigga rockin’ Saint Laurent/ We got together like Harry and Ron/ Treat the microphone the same as a wand.” “Bruuuh (Remix)” arrives four years after the release of the original track on SoundCloud. 

Jevon, “Forest Fire”

“Forest Fire” is a soulful record that kicks off rising U.K. artist Jevon’s new album, Fell In Love With Brasil, which was released via Platoon. Gospel-inspired vocals takes the lead in the beginning of the song, harmonizing about a forest fire. Then, as the beat switches up, Jevon jumps in with a lethal, hard-hitting verse. “Forest Fire” beautifully threads the needle between chaotic and calming moments, giving a peek at Jevon’s versatility. “Kingdom” is another soulful record anchored in piano keys and booming bass that finds Morray celebrating his come up. While he his grateful for how far he’s already come, Morray dreams for more. “I just want a kingdom for my queen/ A castle for my  team/ Money for the babies college fund/ Fla-dap flexing on em one one one/ Can’t believe it’s time/ I’m finally getting mine,” he sings.
