The sessions behind SZA’s long-awaited new album saw her record approximately 100 songs, the recent Complex cover star revealed over the weekend.

When asked by a TMZ paparazzo at LAX about when fans could expect the album to be released, SZA said the rollout could come “any day” now. SZA was then asked by the same insistent paparazzo to reveal how many songs she’s stacked up in the years since the release of her modern classic Ctrl.

“Total? 100,” SZA said. “Maybe, like, I don’t even know actually. Five years of material.”

This update is coupled with word that the official “Shirt” video is indeed on the horizon. SZA confirmed the news herself during her Austin City Limits set last week, noting that “one small thing” needed to be changed in the video.

“So, I fixed that and it is turned in and is about to come out,” she told fans, as seen in the clip below. “So, that’s the truth.”

Of course, this is far from the first update on the Ctrl follow-up. Speaking with Aria Hughes for a recently unveiled Complex cover feature, SZA opened up about how “Shirt” represented the fulfillment of a long-held dream of hers, i.e. getting a chance to work with producer Rodney Jerkins, a.k.a. Darkchild.

“That was always my dream to work with him based on his work with Brandy and Amerie,” SZA told Complex, adding that she and Jerkins “did like seven records in one day.”

Ctrl, meanwhile, marked its fifth anniversary earlier this year with the streaming release of a deluxe edition of the revered album. Revisit that here.
