Playboi Carti's "R.I.P." Video Is 3 Minutes of Relentless Moshing

Playboi Carti goes punk in the black-and-white video for "R.I.P." Fittingly, the new visual echoes the same energy found on the 'Die Lit' cover art.

Playboi Carti's Die Lit is arguably 2018's Best Album to Mosh to, so it's only fitting that "R.I.P." now has a mosh-filled video.

This is far from the first time Carti has nodded at the punk aesthetic. Last September, while teasing a collaborative mixtape with Lil Uzi Vert, Carti shared a photo of The Damned's Captain Sensible and Dave Vanian on Snapchat. For his Die Lit cover art, shot by Nick Walker, Carti was photographed mid-flight at a show with his bird fingers up.

"We shot it at this great photo studio at Highland Park [in Los Angeles] called The Forge," Walker toldPigeons & Planes of the punk-soundtracked photo shoot. "One of the studios has great woodwork. I knew it needed to be dark and we had to create the atmosphere of a show, so that's what we did. We hung up some black duvetyne to hide some of the interior of the studio and played music really fuckin' loud. Then we kind of let the offense run itself, you know?"

At the end of last month, Carti called off a run of overseas tour dates due to "personal reasons." As of now, he's still on for a smattering of shows through August, including an appearance at OHM in Los Angeles June 21.
