GoFundMe for Stiffed Fyre Fest Caterer Tops $130,000
I guess we're going to be talking about Fyre Fest for the rest of our lives.
Maryann Rolle, the caterer interviewed in one of this month's two ubiquitous Fyre Festival documentaries, has now raised more than $130,000 after allegedly being stiffed during the would-be 2017 Great Exuma music experience.
"Back in April 2017, I pushed myself to the limit catering no less than a 1000 meals per day," Maryann and Elvis Rolle wrote in a joint statement when first launching the GoFundMe. "Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all prepared and delivered by [Exuma Point Resort] to Coco Plum Beach and Roker's Point where the main events were scheduled to take place."
As Maryann discussed in Netflix's Fyre documentary, she allegedly had to dip into her own savings for $50,000 in staff paychecks after the Fyre Fest Powers That Be failed to come through with the money. At the time of this writing, the GoFundMe was close to hitting $131,000. The original goal was $123,000. For more info, you know what to do.
If this all sounds like a mess with no signs of slowing down, that's because that's a pretty accurate way of assessing it.
Meanwhile, Ja Rule—who co-organized the fest with Billy McFarland, who's now locked up—recently criticized the conclusions many were coming to after watching the Netflix doc and/or the Hulu one. "You still don't know shit," he told the world over the weekend.
