DaBaby says he was subjected to the practices of an "unlawful police department" outside the Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina Monday night.

#Charlotte native @DaBabyDaBaby arrested for possession of marijuana, per @CMPD. We caught up with him after. First words: "CMPD - unlawful police department. Unlawfully searched my car, arrested me." He told us that CMPD started searching his car before he went on stage. @wcnc pic.twitter.com/frLiTMT7X8

Speaking with reporters, DaBaby (who also recounted the incident on his IG) accused the department of targeting him in the incident despite not being engaged in anything that should have been their concern.

"Every time. There's nobody when I pull up in the parking lot, the second I get out the car, 15 cops come around," he told NBC Charlotte. In the same report, reps from  the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department claim that DaBaby was detained and charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana and resisting an officer.

DaBaby took to Twitter on Tuesday afternoon to further address the situation, warning the police that he'd put them on blast for using "use the local news channels to cover their tracks." He also added that the police are trying "to make a bad example out of me. When in reality, i’m the most positive example the city of Charlotte got. Especially for anybody in the streets of Charlotte and the KIDS."

We gone let the police department use the local news channels to cover their tracks then I’ll give the world our perspective. Keep in mind we have high resolution video and audio over here at the hottest label in the world. 🤓

"Dirty ass police department try to take me to jail every time I got a show in the city," DaBaby said in an IG Story update. He also shared footage of police officers shining their lights in his vehicle and pointed to the general shadiness of their body language when they were called out.

Also at Bojangles Coliseum this week, DaBaby put together an assortment of holiday gifts for underprivileged children. "I always asked to be blessed enough to bless others," he said of the moving act of generosity.
