Elaquent has just announced his upcoming album Long Drives to Nowhere, out June 17. For now, he leaves us with the atmospheric single “Fairy Tales” featuring Mileena.
Detailing a love divine, “Fairy Tales” asks what one can do to repay a person who has fulfilled all their desires and more: “Taking me places that I do adore/I am your mirror giving back tenfold,” Mileena sings softly and assuredly.
“‘Fairy Tales’ was a fun song to make with a friend I’ve wanted to work with for a long time. The piano sample spoke to me with some great emotion and Mileena killed it with the vocals,” says Elaquent of working with the Toronto R&B starlet. “Fairy Tales” follows Mileena’s dreamy 2021 EP, Venus.
Hailing from Guelph, Elaquent produces sample-heavy songs with eclectic influences, bringing in flavours of hip-hop, jazz, and electronic music. Long Drives to Nowhere is detailed to have a whopping sixteen tracks, showcasing the talents of Seb Zillner and Ryan Antooa alongside Mileena and others.
