Kelvyn Colt proves he's a "Savage" with the launch of his new self-directed music video.
Fresh off the buzz of being named one of Forbes' 30Under30, the fast-rising star has decided to demonstrate his multifaceted nature with his latest music video, using the occasion to make his directorial debut. With true Kelvyn Colt finesse, the artist and his team packed their bags and hit the ground running with the cultural and aesthetic beauty of Cuba before them.
Developed with the direction of short movies in mind, "Savage" sees Colt adopt the persona of a hustler as he uses the visual treatment to showcase and celebrate the iconic scenes Cuba has to offer, brought to life with authenticity through his choice to adopt local talent throughout. Mise-en-scene from start to finish breathes classical vibes, with reference to '50s and '60s noir littered across the production. "Savage" plays out as a true testimony to the creative mind behind the lyrics, as the visuals documents a hunt to locate the perfect rum, then inevitably finding romance before everything comes to a dramatic end.
Of course, we can't go without mentioning the harmonic balance of Kelvyn's voice against French producers' Chapo & Heizenberg's flawlessly energetic beat, which is perfectly suited to his high-energy live performances.
