Fabolus Arrested for Assault Charges

Fabolous turned himself in to the authorities on Wednesday night, after allegedly hitting Love & Hip Hop star and girlfriend Emily Bustamante. As TMZ reported on Thursday morning, police were made aware of the incident when Emily B. contacted them, claiming that the father of her two children beat her. At the time, we knew little besides the above allegation and the fact that Fab didn’t spend any time in jail, instead receiving a citation and a future court date. Today, we know a little more about the actual charges.

According to North Jersey, Fab allegedly hit Emily B. in the face seven times, and knocked out two of her front teeth. On top of that, the Brooklyn rapper threatened her father and brother that “he had a bullet for them.” Fabulous reportedly turned himself in to the Englewood, New Jersey police on Wednesday night around 8:30 p.m. ET, with the ensuing legal consequences resulting in domestic dispute, aggravated assault, and terroristic threat charges. Naturally, this is what Fab decided to post on his IG on Thursday.

The court documents reportedly show that all of this began on March 7, when Fab “became enraged” while in Los Angeles because Emily B.’s Instagram indicated she was in the same city as him. While that doesn’t seem like a trigger for violence for most of us, Fab allegedly texted Bustamante that he wanted to hit her in the head with a baseball bat — that he wanted to kill her — but “did not want to go out like that.” Naturally, Bustamante was scared, and notified the police of what was going on while on a flight back to New Jersey. All of this resulted in Fab “causing severe damage to her two front teeth,” which she eventually lost.

Bustamante, referred to as "the victim" in court documents, naturally took precautions after Fab’s violent behavior. Because of the beating, “the victim called her father to remove two handguns from the residence due to her fear that they may be used against her,” the affidavit claims. Unfortunately, those fears seemed pretty warranted, since Fab arrived at the Kenwood Street home and confronted her and her family, before going inside to look for the guns. “When he could not locate the guns, the defendant left the house, but not before informing the victim, her father, and her brother that he had a bullet for them,” court documents state.

Whether or not Fab ran into the house to retrieve the guns — or do something completely unrelated — is sadly not the issue, here. If these accounts are true, and they certainly seem to be, Fab punched a woman in the face, several times, and caused permanent physical injury to her face — not to mention how traumatizing something like this can be.

Of course, we’ll probably hear a lot more about this as time goes on, with Fab’s side of the story gaining traction, and Bustamante responding, and on and on it goes. As it stands, the accounts described here are atrocious, and plainly inexcusable. It’s sad to see an MC as skilled as Fab turning out to be a man who beats women, but, in a post-Trump world, I’m not sure why anything still shocks me.
