Yung Mazi, an Atlanta-based rapper who was part of Kevin Gates' BWA crew, was shot and killed across the street from a local police precinct on Sunday evening. He was 31.

According to multiple reports from the scene of the crimeMazi was leaving a pizza place called Urban Pie around 9 p.m. on Sunday night, before suffering multiple gunshot wounds from an unknown assailant. Atlanta police at the Zone 6 headquarters across from Urban Pie claim they ran into the street in response to sounds of gunfire, with officers on the scene estimating they heard anywhere between 10 to 25 gunshots. The shooter has not yet been apprehended.

This isn't the first time Mazi had been targeted in a violent shooting. As recently as last December, he was shot in the chest while at a Waffle House in Atlanta. The rapper had previously claimed he'd been shot at least 10 times prior to that shooting, and even conducted interviews on why he felt he was being targeted so often.

"I’m a real dude," said Mazi. "Some people don’t like real dudes. That’s cool. I’m not hating. I’m not mad."
