While there wasn't too much in the way of breaking news in Skrillex's Reddit AMA session, that doesn't mean we didn't learn anything. Skrillex was open with his responses, and while he didn't let all of the facts fly, he did give us some insightful responses. From how much he's involved with at OWSLA to what we can expect from his Jack U project with Diplo, Skrillex shy away. Here are 12 things we learned.
The origin of his haircut
"I just did the harcut on a wim... ive had bad skin all my life, and growing up I had being my hard all the time. it was also kind of a way to say "fuck it..." and deal with it... Dunnoo. I also think it's funny when people judge me because of it.. its just hair!"
Skrillex is 100% involved in OWSLA dealings
So we do have Skrilly to thank for all of those awesome additions.
He remembers being "F***ED UP" (in a good way) the first time he heard Wolfgang Gartner's "Fire Power"
Skrillex put us on to Dubloadz and TrollPhace
You have to love when "super unknown" producers get a nod like this.
Hopefully he'll be collaborating with Bjork one day
Skrillex says they have hung out a few times but haven't been able to align their schedules to work on any material.
Working with A$AP Rocky was "organic"
Skrillex also says that Rocky is super talented and had "lots of input."
He was glad that someone got him running into his Mothership on film
That's the first thought he had after the pain went away.
You should also expect four-to-five Jack U tracks this year
We know that scheduling time to work is hard, but Skrillex says that his Jack U project with Diplo should net four-to-five tunes in 2014, but they may be doing shows in Ibiza and the UK.
Expect some big things from Skrillex at Super Jam and Bonnaroo
Just don't expect him to spill the beans; he's all about the surprises.
He doesn't think he's "made it" yet
"I know i have a lot of room to grow.. Which is why im always making tracks.. And the best and worst parts can change depending on my mood.. Life isn't perfect no matter who you are... But its how you see it.. i tend to focus on the positive things.."
Skrillex gives awesome life advice
"keep GOOD/POSITIVE people around you.. You are the company you keep. If you surround yourself with with creative, hungry, and productive people, it will make you have to step up your game... if youre around lazy people who complain then you'll never grow as a person.. keep good people close!"
