August is right around the corner, and we can feel summer slipping through out fingers. With time running out before real life settling back in, you should be living it to the fullest. The EDCs are out of the way, but that doesn't mean there aren't a bunch of solid festivals in the month of August. Labor Day Weekend is locked up in three major cities, but we also have some smaller festivals among the larger more obvious festivals, like this weekend's Lollapalooza. Some tickets are still left, so plan accordingly!
Lollapalooza

Lollapalooza is one of the few true "destination" festivals, taking over Chicago's Grant Park for three days in some of the best the current music scene has to offer. And The Cure. Joining Mumford & Sons, Nine Inch Nails, Vampire Weekend, and New Order (!) will be the likes of Major Lazer, Steve Aoki, Steve Angello, Disclosure, and many others. They did a great job of mixing up some of the more talked-about EDM acts in, both of larger and smaller name. It's already sold out (as it should be), so hopefully you Midwesterners got in on this one early.

Montreal's Osheaga gets it right on a number of different platforms; you can indulge in your rock sensibilities with The Cure, Beck, The Lumineers, or Alt-J, or get your hip-hop on with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Azealia Banks, Big Boi, or Yelawulf. You can even go full weirdo and catch Tricky's set. Obviously your electronic needs are met, as over the course of the three-day festival you can get hip to Baauer, Porter Robinson, Carnage, The Knocks, JETS, Tommy Trash, and many more. Just make sure your nose is clean before heading into Canada.

Destructo's HARD Summer is upon us, and there's a reason why this two-day festival is sold out: their line-up is SERIOUS. Split into four different stages (HARD, HARDer, Summer, Underground), you get the best of a plethora of today's dance music sounds, with everyone from Dog Blood to Disclosure hitting one of the various stages. Busy P will even be stepping up for a special Ed Banger mega mix. Not one to be missed!

We imagine Toronto has been waiting for Veld, with deadmau5's headlining set on Day Two being one of the obvious coups of the two-day festival. The line-up isn't huge, but it's damn impressive, with a host of young talents like GTA, Madeon, Mat Zo, and Seven Lions being mixed in with vets like Kaskade, Danny Tenaglia, Laidbak Luke, and Steve Angello. Enough switching of styles to whet anyone's appetite.
Shambhala Festival

Shambhala boasts a huge, five-day festival line-up, and while you might not know many of the plethora of acts on the bill, DJs like A-Trak, UZ, Loadstar, and Paper Diamond should be enough to keep you going, and hopefully trying some newer sounds or selectors out. They have on-site camping and one of the world's largest kaleidoscopes. Oh, you're interested now, aren't you?!
Outside Lands Festival

One of the cheaper events, and possibly one of the more turnt.

"Summer's Last Stand" will go down at Chicago's Union Park, and worlds will definitely be colliding. Afrojack, Skream, and RL Grime will be sharing a festival with the Wu-Tang Clan (who are performing Enter the 36 Chambers), Nas, Mac Miller, Aloe Blacc (sans Avicii, we imagine), and more. Impressive line-up that will only further establish the melting pot that is music in the 2010s.
