Maiya the Don continues to make waves.

The up-and-coming rapper returned this week with the release of “Dusties,” the much-anticipated follow-up to her 2022 debut single “Telfy.” Maiya teased the track earlier this year, when she shared a behind-the-scenes look at her studio session.

“You thought I was feelin’ you? I was drunk,” she raps in the opening verse. “I just put my ex in this blunt/How I go from talkin’ shit to gettin’ paid to pop it/I ain’t got no type but I prefer my n***as chocolate.”

Maiya said she hopes the song “makes men feel bad, and women feel empowered.”

The Brooklyn rapper has become quite popular on TikTok, thanks in large part to her viral track “Telfy.” The song, produced by Shaan Mehta, was released in October and went on to garner more than 1.2 million views on YouTube.

Maiya says she is now gearing up to release her debut album, which includes contributions from Shawny Bin Laden, Fivio Foreign, Dusty Locane, and Lay Bankz.

“It’s a good amount of people. I’m in album mode and working every day,” she told BET. “I’m literally in the [studio] every day at all hours of the night to put together something really bulletproof and really strong. This is going to be for the fans.”
