It's officially looking and feeling like summer these days and The Free just dropped a single that's just perfect for this time of year. "Calypso" is the latest from this Sudan-born, Toronto-based artist, and we are premiering it here today on Complex.
Born and raised in Sudan, The Free was exposed to many different cultures from a young age, giving him a worldly view that translates into his unique musical sound, one that channels elements of reggae, electronic and hip-hop. After releasing two previous singles—"Freedom Island" and "Vibe of a Mango"—The Free is now releasing the next single form his upcoming debut project (also entitled Vibe of a Mango).
"Calypso" refers not to the style of Afro-Caribbean music you might expect but instead to the Greek mythological nymph of the same name.
