In her new cover story for Schön!, Iggy Azalea is opening up like never before about her overwhelming 2015. “I had to have a psychotic breakdown last year,” Iggy admits to the magazine. “I felt tired and stressed out.” The Australian rapper reveals for the first time that this is why she had to cancel her Great Escape tour. “Last year, I felt like I was definitely not in control of the media’s narrative of me." The media went in on Iggy throughout 2015 regarding her personal appearance and famous feuds with the likes of Nicki MinajAzealia Banks, and "Pretty Girls" collaboratorBritney Spears. "It made me feel very out of control of my own life or my ability to have my own perception of who I was. You don’t want someone else writing your narrative and making you the villain. Then I just realized that, you know what, you can’t control it and I think I accepted that and moved on to living my life.”

On a more positive note, her negative experience with the media turned into the inspiration for her new album, Digital Distortion. “Anything online is a double-edged sword, hence Digital Distortion. You can distort your own perception of self. You’re showing the highlight reel of your life.” Even better, Iggy says she feels "like my energy’s been renewed."
