Didn't see this coming. Rock band Coheed and Cambria have signed with new label 300 Entertainment and released a new song ahead of a new album out later this year. While the band has been known for releasing complex concept albums since their inception in 1995, their forthcoming album The Color Before the Sun will reportedly be the band's first non-conceptual work.

The band released this statement explaining how The Color Before The Sun marks the first time frontman Claudio Sanchez will be signing from an autobiographical standpoint. “I kind of want people to know that Coheed can write that sort of record,” Sanchez said of the album’s departure from The Amory Wars. “I’ve always said in the past that there’s never been a limitation on the band. It makes no sense to me to draw a line in the sand and never cross it.”

Listen to Coheed and Cambria's new song "You've Got Spirit, Kid" below and look for the band to tour in August including headlining spots at Riot Fest and Fun Fun Fun Fest (full list of tour dates on their website). Look for The Color Before The Sun to be released October 9 on 300 Entertainment.
